One District One Product (ODOP): Driving Regional Growth through Unique Local Products

The One District One Product (ODOP) initiative by the Government of India aims to bring a balanced and inclusive approach to regional development across all districts of the country. The primary objective is to select, brand, and promote at least one unique product from each district, fostering socioeconomic growth and highlighting local craftsmanship and heritage. This ambitious initiative has identified 1,102 products from 761 districts across India, recognising the diverse range of specialties that each region offers.

The products under ODOP are selected based on various factors, including the existing ecosystem of the district, the potential for export, and whether they hold a Geographical Indication (GI) tag. By showcasing these unique items, ODOP is not only promoting the products but also providing economic opportunities for local artisans and businesses. These products are promoted at exhibitions, capacity-building sessions, and other marketing activities organised at both the district and state level, with support from local governments.
